Where did you study art or how did you train?:

I have always created art dominated my schooling years. But originally I trained as a florist, before landing myself in the optical industry. So I worked in fashion retail for a long time.
In about 2010 I started to attend short courses at the Fremantle Art Centre.
But, have since continued to develop my own style and technique independently, I think that is what makes my style so unique.
It was in 2016 I made the decision it was time to pursue an art career.

Who are your biggest artistic influences?:

My influences are far reaching, from the immediate brushstrokes of the impressionists to the striking consumer themes of the pop art movement.

Pop culture has had an enormous impact on my own life, cinema, art, music and advertising. This shines through in my painting's.

My work is heavily influenced by everyday living, an entire collection I painted early on, was based on my first years of becoming a parent. Since then, I have continued to document the 'day to day'.

How would you describe your artistic style?:

I turn mundane subjects into vibrant works of art.

My works feature both iconic and relatable scenes, things that we often take for granted.
Domestic and everyday scenes, a messy floor, a washing machine or just the latest packet of chips I picked up from the shop.

What themes or subjects do you most frequently explore in your art work?:

There are 2 sides to my work.
Pop art inspired still life paintings capturing often singular household items, snacks and sweet treats.
The otherside to my work is scenes, both interior and streetscapes.
The subjects are always, just a little bit quirky.

Have you won any awards or participated in any exhibitions?:

I have been selected as a finalist, been awarded minor prizes, across many awards, but not yet won any major prizes.
I have held 2 solo exhibtions and been part of a group show in the last 2 years with works featuring in many other exhibitions.

Do you have a memorable story or experience related to your art?:

So many, but sharing my art with my children and partner are among my most treasured moments.
My first child was only 1 and I was pregnant when I got selected in the Collie Art Prize in 2020.
My children drive me to create, for good and bad, when I need to 'escape' the insanity or when I am chasing my art career.
I want to show them, that anything is possible.
They are also, my number one fans.
And just writing that, makes me smile.

Tell us about your first painted ArtBag. What was the inspiration behind this piece. What did you most and least enjoy about working on it?:

An absolute joy to 'play' with something new and exciting.
I was terrified to destroy such a beautifully restored Gucci bag, but then realised I was adding to it.
I am so pleased with the outcome and hopefully I get the chance to create another - so many ideas.
