FAQs
What types of handbags can I use Bagsamoré products on?
1
Our range is designed for the care and maintenance of luxury and everyday handbags, including many types of finished leather, patent leather and selected specialist materials.
Suitability will depend on the individual product, the material and the finish of your handbag.
Always check the product instructions carefully and test on a small, discreet area before applying more widely.
If you are unsure what your handbag is made from, or which product is most suitable, contact us before use.
What cleaner should I use for my designer handbag?
2
The right cleaner depends on the material, finish and condition of your bag.
Luxe Leather Cleaner is designed for gentle everyday cleaning of suitable leather handbags.
Luxe Foam Cleaner offers a deeper clean for more ingrained surface dirt on suitable finished leather.
Luxe Patent Cleaner is specifically designed for glossy patent leather.
Luxe Mould Cleaner is intended for handbags affected by mould, musty odours and surface contamination.
If you own several different types of handbags, our Pro Cleaning Kit brings all four cleaners together so you can choose the most appropriate product for each bag.
Can I use one leather cleaner on every handbag?
3
Not necessarily.
Different leathers, coatings and finishes can react differently to cleaning products. A cleaner that works well on one handbag may not be suitable for another.
This is why Bagsamoré focuses on specialist products rather than one universal cleaner for every material.
Always follow the individual product instructions and patch test before use.
How often should I clean my handbag?
4
There is no fixed schedule for every handbag.
For bags used regularly, light cleaning as needed is usually preferable to allowing dirt, oils and surface build-up to accumulate over a long period.
How often you clean will depend on factors such as:
how frequently the handbag is used;
its colour;
the type of leather or finish;
how it is stored; and
exposure to dirt, makeup, oils or environmental conditions.
Avoid unnecessary over-cleaning. Gentle maintenance when needed is generally better than repeatedly treating a bag that is already clean. Once every 2 weeks to once every 6 weeks based on usage is our recommendation.
How often should I protect my handbag?
5
A leather protector can form part of a regular care routine for suitable handbags.
How frequently it should be reapplied depends on how often the handbag is used, the material, exposure to weather and handling, and the individual product instructions. We recommend protecting after each deep clean.
Protection should always be applied to a clean surface and only where the product is suitable for the leather or finish.
Should I condition my leather handbag?
6
Some leathers can benefit from conditioning, such as veg tanned leathers, particularly where the surface begins to feel dry or lacks suppleness.
However, not every leather or handbag finish requires conditioner.
Our Luxe Leather Conditioner is intended for suitable leathers and should always be patch tested first.
Avoid automatically conditioning every handbag simply because it is made from leather.
Can I clean mould from my handbag at home?
7
Mould should be treated carefully.
Our Luxe Mould Cleaner is designed specifically for handbags affected by mould, musty odours and surface contamination. It can be used on all types of leather and fabric making it a great all rounder for mould affected items.
The severity of mould damage can vary considerably. Where mould is extensive, always clean in a well ventilated area.
Always follow the product instructions and take appropriate precautions when handling mould-affected items.
Can Bagsamoré products remove stains?
8
Cleaning products may improve or remove some surface marks, dirt and staining, but no cleaner can guarantee removal of every stain.
Results will depend on:
the type of stain;
how long it has been present;
the material;
whether the stain has penetrated the finish;
previous cleaning attempts; and
the condition of the handbag.
Ink, dye transfer and deeply set staining can be particularly difficult to remove through cleaning alone.
9
Will handbag cleaning products damage my bag?
Any product can cause an unwanted result if it is used on an unsuitable material or applied incorrectly.
Bagsamoré products are selected with handbag care in mind, but handbags vary significantly in material, coating, age and previous treatment.
Always:
check suitability before use;
follow the product instructions;
use only the recommended amount; and
test on a small, discreet area first.
If you are unsure, contact us before treating the handbag.
Can I use Bagsamoré products on Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermès or other designer handbags?
10
Our products may be suitable for many designer handbags, but suitability depends on the material and finish rather than the brand name alone.
For example, two handbags from the same designer can be made from very different leathers and finishes and may require completely different care.
Always identify the material where possible and follow the instructions for the individual product.
Bagsamoré is not affiliated with or endorsed by the designer brands referenced on this website.
What is the difference between the Luxe Leather Cleaner and Luxe Foam Cleaner?
11
Luxe Leather Cleaner is intended as a gentler option for routine cleaning and everyday surface dirt on suitable leather handbags.
Luxe Foam Cleaner provides a deeper foaming clean and is better suited where more ingrained dirt or heavier surface build-up needs attention.
If you regularly care for several handbags, having both gives you more flexibility depending on the condition of the bag.
What is the best handbag care routine?
12
A simple handbag-care routine generally involves:
Clean — remove surface dirt and build-up using a suitable cleaner.
Condition — where appropriate for the leather.
Protect — apply a suitable protector to help reduce the effects of everyday use.
Not every handbag will need all three steps every time.
The material, condition and finish of the bag should always determine which products are appropriate.

Allow the test area to dry fully before deciding whether to proceed.
